Seventeen’s Hoshi Marks Enlistment with School Donation and Solo Release

Seventeen member Hoshi combined charitable action with music on the day he began his mandatory military service.

According to the Community Chest of Korea, Hoshi donated 100 million KRW to build a public school in Ndola, Zambia, with the groundbreaking ceremony recently held. This marks his second overseas school donation, following support for a national orphanage school in Laos last year. The funds will be used to construct new classrooms and remodel existing classrooms and the orphanage for around 350 local elementary students.

Hoshi commented, “I want to give strength and encouragement to children growing up in challenging conditions. I hope they can pursue their dreams more healthily in their new classrooms.” He joined the high-donor group “Honor Society” in 2021 and has also served as a UNESCO Youth Ambassador alongside other Seventeen members.

On the same day, Hoshi released his solo track TAKE A SHOT at 6 p.m. KST on various online music platforms. The song is a rage-inspired hip-hop track featuring powerful rap, synth sounds, and guitar, with lyrics written by Hoshi himself to express his determination for a new leap as he celebrates his 10th anniversary since debut.

This year, Hoshi has continued solo projects alongside activities with BSS and Seventeen, expanding his presence on the global stage. His enlistment makes him the fourth Seventeen member to begin military service, following Jeonghan, Wonwoo, and Woozi.
